Summer Crisis Program

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action will begin taking appointments for its Summer Crisis Program, a component of the Home Energy Assistance Program on June 28, 2010. The program will begin on July 1, 2010 and will operate until all funds are obligated, but no later than August 31, 2010. This program provides assistance for electric bills for households with members 60+ and/or household members under the age of 60 who have a physician statement verifying that they have an illness which would benefit from this assistance. There will be no air conditioner or fan assistance.

Eligible households may receive a one time benefit, up to $175 toward their electric bill. All applicants must bring:

proof of citizenship such as birth certificate or voters registration card
proof of gross income for the past three months for all household members
a copy of their electric bill, gas bill, and/or documentation of main heating source such as propane
social security cards for everyone in the household
no disconnect notice is required
a balance due is required on the utility bill
any identification document that clearly shows age
if under 60 years of age, documentation from a physician stating that the client or someone in the clients’ household has an illness that would benefit from this assistance

Hocking Athens and Perry Community Action is scheduling appointments through a new integrated voice response (IVR) system. The IVR scheduling system will be available from 5:00 AM – 7:00 PM Monday through Friday. This scheduling system can be reached by calling toll free 1.866.487.1362. A very limited amount of first-come, first-serve openings will be available on a daily basis. We strongly recommend making an appointment due to a very limited amount of walk-in appointments that will be available.
