Emergency HEAP Program Continues

Winter is finally here!  With temperatures dropping, heating costs are rising.  Hocking . Athens . Perry Community Action will continue to take applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) through March 31, 2007.  To schedule an appointment or to obtain more information about this winter program, please call Hocking . Athens . Perry Community Action.  Daily walk-in slots are available, but are limited.

The Emergency HEAP Program helps income eligible families buy bulk fuels or pay their utility bill if it is in threat of disconnection.  The benefit is available one time per heating season for each income eligible household.  To qualify for the emergency HEAP benefit you must have a disconnection notice for your electric or gas service, or have less than a 10 day supply of bulk fuels (wood, coal, propane, kerosene, fuel oil).  You also must meet with a representative at Hocking . Athens . Perry Community Action and supply at least 90 days proof of income, social security numbers for household members, as well as dates of birth.  In addition, a copy of the utility bills is needed.

If you would like to schedule an appointment, or have any questions, please contact the HEAP staff person at your county office:
