HEAP Program Continues
Winter
is finally here! With temperatures dropping, heating costs
are rising. Hocking . Athens . Perry Community Action will
continue to take applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program
(HEAP) through March 31, 2007. To schedule an appointment
or to obtain more information about this winter program, please
call Hocking . Athens . Perry Community Action. Daily walk-in
slots are available, but are limited.
The
Emergency HEAP Program helps income eligible families buy bulk fuels
or pay their utility bill if it is in threat of disconnection.
The benefit is available one time per heating season for each income
eligible household. To qualify for the emergency HEAP benefit
you must have a disconnection notice for your electric or gas service,
or have less than a 10 day supply of bulk fuels (wood, coal, propane,
kerosene, fuel oil). You also must meet with a representative
at Hocking . Athens . Perry Community Action and supply at least
90 days proof of income, social security numbers for household members,
as well as dates of birth. In addition, a copy of the utility
bills is needed.
