Senior Nutrition Programs
Our Meals-On-Wheels program provides a well-balanced meal to homebound elderly 7 days a week. The meals are prepared in our state-of-the-art kitchen facility
and delivered in one of our Meals-On-Wheels trucks directly to the recipients’ home on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
These meals are delivered to clients by trained staff in one of our "Hot Shot" trucks. These vehicles contain both refrigeration and heating units so that meals are delivered to the clients' homes at the appropriate temperature.
In addition to providing nutritious food Meals-On-Wheels serves as a safety net for homebound clients. If it is evident that a client has been injured or became ill the emergency contact or appropriate authorities are notified. For too many elderly, our drivers are their only contact.
Thanks to a Banfield Charitable Trust Grant awarded in 2011, Meals-On-Wheels was able to start distribution of pet food to our clients’ animals. Every month clients of the program receive a free delivery of pet food for their companion. The mission of this program is to help keep people and their pets together by eliminating one of the logistical and financial impediments to proper pet care. More information about the program can be found here.
